Rifco Associates: Musical theatre call out

Rifco Associates: Musical theatre call out

24 October 2017

Rifco Theatre Company are offering an opportunity for British Asian (South Asian) writers and composers to submit their ideas for new musicals as part of the Rifco Associates programme. These ideas should celebrate and reflect British Asian life (Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan), culture and society.

Successful applicants will be paired up (writers with composers) and receive mentorship and guidance through the programme to develop a new idea for a musical. The aim will be to present a ‘work in progress’ at an industry event at Watford Palace Theatre in Spring 2018.

Applicants do not have to have written a musical before but should have had some professional experience of writing or composing.

Previous applicants may apply.  Open to individuals and groups.

Rifco Associates is a programme of support for artists in early stages of their career and mid-career. This structured programme of support is about opening up access to a wider range of people working in theatre and celebrating the voices of British Asian contemporary artists both on the stage and behind the scenes. There is a bespoke approach to each Associate through a programme of small commissions, workshops and peer-to-peer mentoring.
