We are looking for Actors with EXCELLENT DANCE ABILITY and PHYSICAL THEATRE SKILLS, and Dancers with good acting ability. We are especially interested in meeting actors and dancers with urban dance and Bollywood dance skills.


We are now casting for a CASTING WORKSHOP which will lead to offers for the touring production.

Casting workshops in JANUARY 2013 AND Production and Tour APRIL - JUNE 2013 ( with possible extension until JULY 2013).

The workshops and Production will be paid at the current ITC/EQUITY rates. Being offered a part in the workshop does not constitute an offer for the production. Offers for the Production will be made to successful participants after the workshop.

About the show

All Zain wants to do is dance - but his family, the local fascists and two left feet are all getting in the way. As the harsh reality of his jobless home town hits and the local chicken shops multiply, Zain attempts to escape and turn his life into a showbiz world of fantasy...

From the team behind the 2011 smash hit musical Britain's Got Bhangra, comes this brand new show that sees Bollywood and Street Dance collide in an electric, feel good show for all ages.

ZAIN (Male, 14 - 20)

Playing age teens. British Asian Pakistani. Kind hearted, eccentric, a bit of a fantasist and obsessed by dancing. Spends all his time in his bedroom practising routines and blasting out Bollywood. What he makes up for in enthusiasm, he lacks in talent.

Ethnicity: Asian, Hispanic, Indian, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Mixed Race, Pakistani

ADIL (Male, 20 - 30)

Playing age early Twenties, British Pakistani. Zain's older brother. Unemployed, angry and principled. Gets his aggression out boxing. Preaches to Zain about dancing being haram and sees it as a girl's thing – what would people say?

MUM (Female, 28 - 40)

Playing age mid to late thirties. British Pakistani. Living in the heart of the community but a virtual recluse, she ventures out only to Asda, otherwise keeping herself happy by listening to Asian radio, watching Asian news channels for news from 'back home' and blasting out Asian dramas and Bollywood films.

SOPHIE (Female, 16 - 21)

Playing age late teens, English White. A dancer too, she's an ace at street dancing, practising every moment she can in the local community centre. In fact she practices too much – almost to the point of obsessiveness. And with people she's bold, too bold...

Harmeet (Male, 15 - 26)

Harmeet works in the local corner shop and is learning English as a second language. He is Zains best friend, and only friend. He is desperate to prove his Britishness.
